Back to the thesis

I'm really in need of more participants for my survey regarding bilingual education! Filling it out not only helps with my education but can contribute to the knowledge base on educational practices and perhaps even influence future education standards and practices.....

I only have 11 participants, if you have not taken my survey or know of someone who has not, please send the link on. Thanks!

Jury Duty cancelled

So I'm not needed. I wonder how long it will be before I am yet again summoned. This is the second time they cancelled on me, although the first time they said that no-one was needed and this time my juror number was simply too high....

C'mon Florida!

North Dakota has the cheapest renewal fee at $10 as of August 2010. Compare that to a state such as Florida ($48), which has one of the highest. South Dakota, Alaska and Arkansas all cost $20. Alabama is close at $23. Colorado is $21. If you are late to renew in Alabama, the late fee is only $15. New York is the most expensive at $120 for a Class A license.

Fee jump from $20 to $48? Thanks a lot government! As if I don't pay enough in taxes you gotta increase the cost of living every way possible!

Incidentally, wow New York!

1 month= more jobs applied for than days lived

The more application/interview bombs I have now the better I will be prepared for when it really matters.

Song list:

Bring your child to work day

As someone who has for the past four years answered the question, "So what do you want to do?" with "I don't know/underwater basket weaving/drop out have 10 kids ya' know/ become rich and famous" I wish I could have participated in a program that would have enabled me to gain real-world experience without the real-world education price tag and angst in job application and training.

Bring a Student to Work Day!

The program for the Undecideds. The program to promote companies and students both at the same time. The program would have applications on both ends, for the students (high school and college and neither?) as well as for the companies or individual employees. Students can apply for a specific field or maybe fill out a questionnaire with likes/dislikes etc and then be paired with possible jobs (like simplified Meyer's Briggs test). Employees would fill out an application with their personal job details and opportunities in which they could have a tag-along. Employees and students would get paired up and voile! Perhaps a better idea of what you want to do/be in life/as a career. Real-world knowledge, free labor for employers for a day, it's a win-win situation!

Don't have kids? Bring a child to work day just became bring someone's child to work day....
